How to Stay Motivated and Keep Moving Over Christmas 🎄

The festive season is upon us, and while it’s a time for joy, family, and celebration, it’s easy to lose track of your fitness goals. Between the food, drinks, and busy schedules, many people feel like they “fall off the wagon” at Christmas and struggle to bounce back. But it doesn’t have to be that way! With a little planning and the right mindset, you can enjoy the holidays while staying active and feeling great.

Here’s how to keep your motivation high over Christmas:

1. Set Small, Achievable Goals

Over the holidays, your usual fitness schedule might not be realistic. That’s okay! Instead of aiming for perfection, focus on smaller wins.

Example Goals:10,000 steps a day, 3 workouts a week, or 20 minutes of exercise each morning.

By setting achievable targets, you’ll maintain momentum without feeling overwhelmed.

2. Book Onto Bootcamp Sessions

Staying committed to your fitness routine is much easier when it’s in the diary. Make a point of booking onto your Bootcamp sessions ahead of time.

• Showing up keeps you accountable and consistent.

• The group energy and support will keep you motivated – even when it’s cold or you’re feeling sluggish.

• It’s a great way to get some “you time” during the busy festive season.

Tip: Use our sessions as a way to reset and re-energise after heavy meals and parties!

3. Join Our Social Sunday Runs

If you’re looking for an extra way to stay active and social, our Sunday Runs are perfect!

• No pressure – just a relaxed, friendly group run to get you moving and feeling good.

• Great for all abilities – shorter and longer routes available

• A chance to catch up with fellow members and feel part of the community during the holidays.

Running on a Sunday sets the tone for a positive, active week ahead. Why not give it a go? Check our FB group on more details run by Jen & Ferdi

4. Prioritise Movement – Not Perfection

You don’t need to hit personal bests or stick to intense workouts to stay on track. Keep things simple:

• Take a brisk family walk after Christmas lunch.

• Use short, effective workouts like HIIT or bodyweight circuits.

• Focus on movement rather than results – something is always better than nothing.

5. Plan Your Workouts

With parties, travel, and family commitments, planning is key.

• Book your bootcamp sessions early in the week.

• Schedule short workouts at home or runs if you can’t make it to sessions.

• Focus on full-body exercises like squats, push-ups, and planks – 20 minutes is all you need!

By planning ahead, you’ll avoid skipping workouts when life gets busy.

6. Stay Accountable

Staying motivated is easier when you’re not doing it alone.

• Partner up with a friend or fellow member to keep each other on track.

• Share your wins in our Facebook group – we love hearing about your progress!

• Keep booking into sessions and showing up – the community energy will carry you through.

7. Balance, Don’t Restrict

Christmas is a time to enjoy yourself – and you should! Don’t feel guilty for festive treats. Instead, focus on balance:

• Stick to healthy meals when you can, and enjoy indulgences in moderation.

• Avoid the “all or nothing” mindset – one big meal doesn’t mean you’ve ruined your progress.

• Keep moving, drink water, and get enough sleep – you’ll feel much better for it.

8. Remember Your Why

Why did you start your fitness journey? Is it to feel stronger, healthier, or more confident?

• Reflect on your progress so far – you’ve already come so far!

• Think about how amazing you’ll feel in January knowing you stayed consistent.
